Blog #2

Why college? Through out high school i was always asked what i wanted to do with my life, what i wanted to go to college for, things of this nature. I always gave some random answers that changed from person to person because i had no clue what I wawnted to do with my life. But when it came down to senior year I began to feel the pressure of college coming on. All my class mates were talking about what fields they were going to go into and what scholarships they were getting and how excited they were about getting awa from home. And all I could so was just listen to them and think to myself what am I going to go into or where am I going to go to college at. I still had no clue about any of it, all I knew was that was expected to go to college by my family and to do well at it. So I ended up messing around and barely getting my ACT score in time to get a full ride here to JSU. Now that I finally knew where i was going to school and that was great and everything but i still had no idea what Iwas going to major in, but I had heard from countless people that that was ok that no one knew what they wanted to do until they were like 23. So I took this as I'll be ok for right now, there is no big hurry. Once I got on campus I started to meet people I joined a fraternity (KA), which is one of the best decisions of my life. But everyone there had a plan set for there life and I still have no clue what I wanted with a select few of my brothers. So I started classes and I lived on my own and got myself into a care free attitude and began to not go to class and not do homework which was one of the worst decisions I ever let myself have. So I messed up my school for the fall and then again in the spring. So this summer I had a time of soul searching. Now I have a plan for my life.

First im going to get on a job for Norfolk Southern railroad which is a great company with health benifits and retirment plans that are hard to find anywhere else. Im going to double major in buisness finance and management. So that I can go into the management portion of the company. I want to do this so that I can provide a stable income for the family that I will have a few years down the road. Thanks guys feel free to correct my grammar or any pointers that you would like to give are appreciated.

  1. I had the same problem with not knowing what I was wanting to do in college, til I learned how to cook! There are alot of people with undecided majors in college, so werent alone in that area. Its awesome that you to charge and made a plan for your life! Its very respectable, and i wish you the best of luck!

  2. I really like how you opened up and told us about your college experience. I'm a freshmen and I have no idea what I want to do for a major. I like how after you had a bump in the road, you turned that around and knew exactly what you wanted to do. I think it's great! I also like how you talk about supporting a family in the future. That's great!

  3. I agree with Samantha about you opening up about everything. It's actually a good experience to learn from your mistakes. I'm happy for you figuring out what you wanna do.
